Terms of Use

Last updated: 3/3/2026

1. Overview

ViniGeo is a cartographic exploration tool for wine regions around the world. By accessing or using this site, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please discontinue use immediately. This page is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.

2. Third-party map data and services

ViniGeo uses mapping and location services provided by Amazon Web Services, Inc. ("AWS"), specifically Amazon Location Service, which in turn leverages data from multiple third-party providers (including but not limited to HERE Technologies, GrabMaps, Esri, and open data sources such as OpenStreetMap and others).

By using this site, you acknowledge that the maps, geospatial data, and related functionality are subject to the separate terms, conditions, and licenses of Amazon Location Service and its data providers. Those providers may change over time.

For current details on Amazon Location Service data sources and their attribution requirements, please see the official AWS documentation: Amazon Location Service data providers and attribution.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, all map data and location services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind by ViniGeo. Any warranties (if any) are solely as provided by AWS or the underlying data providers.

3. Wine region data sources & attribution

ViniGeo displays wine appellation boundaries sourced from the following datasets. Where required by license, attribution is provided below.

4. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ViniGeo expressly disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement.

ViniGeo does not warrant that: (a) the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; (b) any information obtained through the service will be accurate, reliable, complete, or current; (c) any defects in the service will be corrected; or (d) the service or the servers that make it available are free of viruses or other harmful components.

The geographic data shown in ViniGeo is a best-effort aggregation of official and open data sources. Boundaries, names, and other attributes may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate and should not be relied upon for legal, regulatory, commercial, or safety-critical decisions.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ViniGeo and its operators, affiliates, licensors, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages of any kind — including but not limited to loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business opportunities, or other intangible losses — arising out of or in connection with:

  • your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the service;
  • any content or data obtained from the service;
  • unauthorised access to or alteration of your data;
  • any third-party conduct or content on the service; or
  • any other matter relating to the service.

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory under which the claim arises (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise), even if ViniGeo has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In no event shall ViniGeo's total aggregate liability to you for all claims exceed the greater of: (a) the total fees you actually paid to ViniGeo in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or (b) ten US dollars (US $10.00).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages. To the extent such limitations are not permitted under applicable law, they apply only to the maximum extent permitted.

6. Subscriptions and payments

ViniGeo Pro is an optional paid subscription that unlocks advanced map features. By subscribing, you authorise recurring charges to your chosen payment method at the rate selected at sign-up. Subscription billing is handled by Stripe through RevenueCat and is subject to their respective terms and policies.

All fees are non-refundable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise. ViniGeo reserves the right to change subscription prices at any time with reasonable notice. Continued use of the Pro tier after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Access to Pro features may be suspended or terminated if payment fails or if these terms are violated. ViniGeo makes no guarantees about the continued availability of any specific feature included in the Pro tier.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ViniGeo and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, this is the jurisdiction in which ViniGeo operates, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

9. Changes to these terms

These Terms of Use may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted will constitute your acceptance of the updated terms. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice.

If you have questions about these terms, please contact the maintainer of this project.
